Translating for the coach

August 24, 2009

Coach Richt spoke a few words about the upcoming opener today.

“We’ve got a challenging schedule this year. We open up with a top 10 team on the road, it’s their highest preseason ranking in school history, they got a new stadium, a great senior class, they feel good about their team. I like where we’re at too, we’ll get after it.”

As you know, Richt never speaks a harsh word about anybody, but a trained ear can pick up on the subliminal message. I have such an ability, so I will post the previous quote, this time with the intended message added in.

“We’ve got a challenging schedule this year. We open up with a top 10 team on the road, [they’ve never been ranked that high and probably don’t know how to deal with it], they got a [ridiculously expensive and surprisingly small] stadium, a [overconfident and overrated] senior class, they feel good about their team. I like where we’re at too, we’ll get after [that ass and burn their playhouse down].”

I like his tune.
